About xxxtea.
The internet is full of polite, padded, AI-generated takes on tea. Nobody was writing about leaves, bags, and the wares around them with specificity, with conviction, and with some awareness that the category is — let's say — a quiet ritual people take more seriously than they admit. xxxtea is the correction.
What we cover
Every leaf worth brewing: black, green, oolong, white, pu-erh, matcha, herbal, rooibos, chai. Every form factor: loose leaf, pyramid bags, paper sachets, powders. And every vessel that turns leaves into a cup: kettles, teapots, infusers, matcha sets. We track Vahdam, Harney & Sons, Numi, Rishi, Twinings, Tazo, Ippodo, Jade Leaf, Fellow, Bonavita, Hario, FORLIFE, Le Creuset — every brand worth a recommendation, plus the ones that aren't.
How we pick what makes the cut
We look at the actual leaves, the actual tin, the actual cup. We read the forums where people who buy tea by the kilo argue about which house gets a year right. The matcha sommelier on her fourteenth tin of Ippodo Sayaka tells you something the product page doesn't. We cross-reference, brew the cup, and report what shows up in the mouth.
How we test
Every reviewed product is brewed to spec — manufacturer recommendations first, then at the parameters our brewing guide recommends for the leaf type. For loose leaf and pyramid bags: correct gram weight per 8oz, water at the right temperature, timed steep. For hardware (kettles, teapots, infusers): tested across multiple leaf types over multiple sessions. We note dry leaf aroma, wet leaf aroma, liquor colour, and cup flavour across at least two infusions. Vessels are evaluated on heat retention, ease of cleaning, pour control, and whether they're actually pleasant to hold and use.
No product has paid for its position. Ratings reflect our honest assessment — if it didn't earn it in the cup, it doesn't earn it on the page.
Nothing here is sponsored. Nobody paid for their position. If something made the lineup, it's because the people who drink it won't stop reaching for it.
How we make money
Amazon Associates. When you click a link and buy something — anything, not just what we covered — we earn a small commission. The price you pay is identical either way. We've never taken a paid placement and we're not starting.
